Anna Wainright

Anna Wainright is an internationally recognized, award-winning artist. Driven to create images that evoke the sensations of weather and emotion, she is known for her atmospheric paintings that capture a sense of place. After 25 years in public service, Wainright began pursuing her dream to be an artist in 2007, with pastel being her medium of choice. After years of work in pastel, her efforts culminated in 2022 when she received the Prix de Pastel award in the Master division of the Juried Pastel World Exhibition at the International Association of Pastel Societies Convention in New Mexico. She also received the Eminent Pastelist designation at that time.

Other distinctions for Wainright include Master status in the Pastel Society of America; Signature membership in the American Tonalist Society; and Associate membership in the Oil Painters of America, National Oil & Acrylic Painters’ Society, and American Impressionist Society. Her oil paintings were exhibited in the 2021 and 2022 OPA national shows.

The artist has exhibited her work in several museum shows, including those at The Butler Institute of American Art (Youngstown, OH), Slater Memorial Museum (Norwich, CT), and Haggin Museum (Stockton, CA). Recently she exhibited in China and Korea as well.

Her work was featured in the “Conjuring the Landscape” article in the January/February 2021 issue of Pastel Journal, as well as in the book Pure Pastel: Contemporary Works by Today’s Top Artists in 2019.           

Wainright is represented by The Artful Deposit (Bordentown, NJ) and Beacon Fine Arts Galleries (Red Bank, NJ). She is a member of The Salmagundi Club (New York City).
