D. Eleinne Basa
Landscape painter D. Eleinne Basa calls the East Coast home. Participating in classical training since she was a child, she furthered her art education after college by taking several workshops and diving into the competitive plein air scene, where she earned numerous awards. Today she spends time both in her studio and travelling to scenic locations to seek inspiration for paintings. She has been working as a full-time artist since 2004.
Basa finds inspiration in the work of 19th-century American painters such as tonalist George Inness (1825-1894), as well as in the delicate, muted landscapes of Spanish artist Emilio Sánchez Perrier (1855-1907). Additional favorites include Thomas Moran (1837-1926), Emil Carlsen (1853-1932), and Hugh Bolton Jones (1848-1927).
The artist’s evocative landscapes have been shown in important invitational and juried exhibitions throughout the country, including The International ARC Salon at Sotheby’s New York, The Collectors’ Reserve at the Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa, The California Art Club’s Gold Medal Exhibition at the Autry Museum of the American West in Los Angeles, the American Masters exhibition at the Salmagundi Club in New York City, and more.
Throughout her career, the artist has won multiple awards and honors for her work, most notably the $15,000 Grand Prize at Plein Air Magazine’s first Plein Air Salon, the Art of the West Award of Excellence at the California Art Club’s Gold Medal Exhibition, Best in Show and Artist Choice at the 2018 American Masters exhibition, the People’s Choice Award at the inaugural American Tonalist Society Show, and more. Basa is a member of The California Art Club and the Salmagundi Club and a Co-Founder of the American Tonalist Society. Her paintings can be found in several private and public collections and have been featured in numerous magazine articles.
Basa is represented by Astoria Fine Art (Jackson Hole, WY), Rehs Galleries, Inc. (New York, NY), Paderewski Fine Art (Beaver Creek, CO), Howard/Mandville Gallery (Woodinville, WA), Ballard’s Fine Art (Sheridan, WY), and The Artful Deposit (Bordentown, NJ).
